Who we are

This website is run by KKD Bakeshop & Confectionery, a bakery and confectionery business based in Cardiff, Wales. If you have any question about your information, or you want a copy of it, or you want it deleted, email kkdbakeshopconfectionery@gmail.com or message us on WhatsApp and we will deal with it.

What we collect, and when

• When you enquire or order. Your name, email address, WhatsApp number and the details of the cake or order you are asking about. Enquiries and orders reach us by WhatsApp or email, so they sit in those accounts.
• When you join the KKD Cake Club. Your first name and email address, and your mobile number and birthday if you choose to give them. We also store the exact wording of the consent you agreed to and when you agreed to it.
• When you enter the Cake Design Challenge. Your display name, email address, your cake design, your description and your social handle if you give one. Your display name, design and description are shown publicly once we approve your entry, which is what the consent box on that form is for. Your email address is never published.
• When you use the cake designer. The design itself. It stays in your own browser unless you send it to us or enter it into the challenge.
• When you vote in the challenge. An anonymous identifier in a cookie, so that each browser votes once. It is not linked to your name or your email.

Why we are allowed to use it

For enquiries and orders, because we need it to answer you and to make and deliver what you have asked for. For the Cake Club and any other marketing, because you gave us your consent, and only then. For the challenge, because you consented to your entry being shown.

Marketing and order messages are kept separate. Unsubscribing from the Cake Club stops the marketing. It does not stop us replying about an order you have placed, because we still need to be able to talk to you about that order.

Where it is kept

Cake Club members, challenge entries and site settings are kept in a database on this website's own server. Enquiries and orders you send by WhatsApp or email are held in those accounts.

If we connect an email marketing platform to send the Cake Club emails, your first name, email address and the details you gave when you joined are passed to that platform so that it can send them to you. We do not sell your information to anybody, and we do not share it for anyone else's marketing.

How long we keep it

Cake Club details are kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them. Order and enquiry correspondence is kept while we may still need it for your order, for our records and for tax purposes. Challenge entries are kept while the competition and its gallery are running, and you can ask us to take yours down at any time.

Unsubscribing

Every Cake Club email has an unsubscribe link at the bottom and one click is all it takes. You can also email us and we will take you off the list by hand. There is no catch and we will not ask you why.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you can ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, ask us to stop using it for marketing, and withdraw your consent at any time. Email kkdbakeshopconfectionery@gmail.com and we will sort it out.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Cookies, and what this site keeps in your browser

• A note that you have joined the Cake Club, so that we stop asking you.
• A note that you closed the Cake Club pop-up, so that it stays closed.
• An anonymous voting identifier, so each browser votes once in the challenge.
• A sign-in cookie, but only for the site owner's own admin area.

There is no advertising tracking on this site, and no third-party analytics cookies.
